Description The idea for Children’s Association for Maximum Potential (CAMP) began when a group of Air Force physicians realized how important a camping experience could be to their pediatric patients with special needs. Founded in 1979, CAMP was incorporated as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization in 1980. In 1988 CAMP purchased a campground on the Guadalupe River in Center Point, Texas, and became accredited by the American Camp Association in 1992. Today, children and adults with disabilities and special health care needs (the majority from Texas, from across the U.S. and beyond) attend week-long camping sessions held each summer from May through August. CAMP does its best to ensure that no one is ever turned away based on the severity of their disability or inability of the family to pay.

Campers are given opportunities to succeed and once they begin to achieve their goals at camp, they develop confidence in their own talents and abilities. We encourage campers to seek the good in themselves and each other, so they place value in virtue rather than the venial attractions of the world. As campers support one another over the course of a session, they build friendships that are based in service – friendships they can count on long past the end of the summer.

Description Prude Ranch was established by the AG Prude’s over 100 years ago as a cattle ranch. Since this time five generations of Prude’s have been in charge of the ranch operations, which have included everything from punching cattle to corralling boys and girls in our summer camp program. From 1951 until the present time, campers have enjoyed a true “southwest” experience – wide open spaces, beautiful mountains, pure clean air, and a sample of real ranch life. “Second generation campers” abound, experiencing camp life much like their parents did in earlier years. The Prude Ranch Summer Camp Program is still a family affair, with three generations of Prude’s directing camp activities. Ranch cabins, which house the campers, look like old fashion ranch-hand bunk houses. Each unit has private bath facilities and even air conditioning; other facilities include a modern dining room, recreation building, enclosed swimming pool, lighted tennis courts, lighted rodeo arena, rifle and archery ranges, arts and crafts, and lots of wide open spaces just hankerin’ for kids to romp over. Our most popular activities center around horses. Other activities include riflery, hiking, horsemanship, animal life, cheerleading, gymnastics crafts, swimming, archery, drama, ropes course, stunt night, and talent shows.

Description Catch the Spirit of Camp! At CFA we’re proud to offer you and your family a camp experience enhanced by our mission and values. We pride ourselves on many things: exciting activities, a beautiful location and passionate staff. However, our true pride is in our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith. Established in 1927, CFA has been serving participants with mission-based programming for over 80 years. The mission of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Our camping goal is to provide campers a camp experience rich in tradition centered on the five core values, allowing the camper to gain independence and a higher self-worth and lifelong memories. We hold 8 weeks of traditional summer camp every year for youth ages 8 to 15, along with our leadership development programs for 16 and 17 year olds, and Rookie Camp for ages 6 to 8. From August to May, we offer many opportunities for retreat programming, ranging from weekend retreats to one day team events. Between our many core value-centered programs, CFA serves over 3000 people a year. The name YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow was adopted in the early 1970s with the addition to girls to the program. With 213 acres and almost a mile of river front on the south fork of the Guadalupe River, YMCA Camp Flaming Arrow has been a stronghold for YMCA camping in the Texas Hill Country. CFA has pride in its service of persons of all ages, ethnic groups and religious affiliations through its history. With our strong scholarship program, we have also been able to include families from all walks of life.
